The Australian Science & Mathematics School is a public school for senior secondary students and, as its name suggests, has a special focus on science and mathematics. Our innovative interdisciplinary curriculum focuses our students’ learning through the new sciences such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, communication systems and sustainable futures.

ASMS students enjoy their studies. And why wouldn’t they?

• When they learn science they can explore the social, historical and philosophical implications of scientific endeavour. They get to design their own practicals, design investigations and research projects of special interest to them, work on group projects and negotiate to present their learning in interesting ways. If interested, they can work directly with the Flinders University scientists.
• Rather than learning mathematics through textbooks and drill, students get to direct their own learning. By learning mathematical knowledge at their own pace through exploring concepts and solving problems, students are able to gain a deeper and more connected understanding of mathematics.
• a strong sense of community is created because the learning environment is designed to enable high levels of interactivity and collaboration amongst students and teachers.
• The school’s sophisticated virtual classrooms are available online so that students (and parents) can access their learning programs and resources and contact teachers 24/7.
• Students have access to the Flinders University resources, such as the library and gymnasium. Some students link with scientists, and some can take first year university subjects in their year 12 program
